Zinio Digital Magazines 

Read full digital copies of your favorite magazines on a computer, tablet, or mobile device using the free Zinio Reader app.


Getting Started - A valid Alexandria Library card and email address are required.

Using the Alexandria Library’s free Zinio magazine service requires the creation of two (2) accounts: a library Zinio account to view the library’s collection and a free Zinio account to read magazines from a computer online or via the Zinio Reader app on your mobile device.


Create an Alexandria Library Zinio Collection account

1. Go to the Alexandria Library's Zinio web page at and follow the link to register for an account.
2. Enter your Alexandria Library Patron ID barcode number and click NEXT.
3. On the account page enter your name, email and password and click the CREATE ACCOUNT! button. You will receive a welcome email confirming your new account.
4. Click the login link in the confirmation email OR return to the library's Zinio Web page and log in to begin browsing the library's collection.

5. Browse the Alexandria Library's collection and choose magazines you want to read by clicking on the magazine cover. Finish with "Complete Checkout." This will prompt a new window to open sending you to
6. You will register a separate account. First-time users need to register an email address. This email address MUST be the same as the email address you used when creating your Alexandria Library Zinio Collection in Step 2 above. Enter your name and create a password to complete the process for setting up the Zinio account. Either accept or clear the Zinio setting for "your interests," then click REGISTER. (On future visits you will only need to use the SIGN IN HERE button).
7. Your personal library magazines will now display in the READ tab of your Zinio account.


Read Magazines Online

To read magazines online you'll first need to check them out from Once you have checked them out you can read them online by visiting, or by clicking "Go to My Checked-out Magazines" on the Alexandria Library Zinio page.


Install the free Zinio Reader App

You can install the Zinio Reader App on your computer or mobile device

Download your free Zinio reader app: PC, MaciPhoneiPadAndroidKindle Fire/HDWin 8BlackberryNook HD/HD+ (The app is not yet available for the Nook Color.)

To download and read magazines in the Zinio Reader App for Apple devices, Android devices and desktop computers look for "Zinio" in the app store or at*Note: Some titles cannot be read on a computer using a web browser and can only be accessed through the Zinio Reader App.)

Amazon Kindle Fire

Some users are reporting an inability to locate the Zinio app download page from their Fire. Users are encouraged to contact Kindle support here to find out why it isn't available for download.

Note: these instructions are ONLY for users on the Amazon Kindle Fire. This installer is not supported for any other device. You must follow these instructions *on your Kindle Fire*

1. From the main screen, put your finger on the top right corner of the screen and 'swipe' your finger down to bring up the Settings menu. Press: More > Device > Allow installation of Applications (from unknown devices)> select "ON"

2. Download the APK (app installer) from here (just tap this link on your Kindle Fire)

3. To monitor your download put your finger on the top left corner of the screen and 'swipe' down or pull down, as if you were pulling a curtain down. This will show the download progress. Once the download is complete, tap the file that we downloaded, select "Install" and press "Open" when the installation is complete.
