Affordable Care Act Begins October 1

Starting October 1, 2013, Americans can enroll in health insurance coverage, under the Affordable Health Care Act, which requires U.S. citizens and legal residents to have qualifying health coverage by January 1, 2014

Banned Books Weeks at Alexandria Library

In celebrating the freedom to read, staff from the Beatley Central Library will be reading aloud from their favorite banned books in the library foyer on September 24, from 2 to 5 p.m. On September 27, the central library will be screening the film version of a banned book. 

 

Author Talk with Mary Louise Clifford at Duncan Branch Library

Mary Louise Clifford joins the Duncan Branch Library on September 23 at 7 p.m. to discuss, "Drummer Boy of Company C: Coming of Age in the Civil War," which include Almon's memoirs of his journey as a brave 14-year-old who left home to become a soldier, but was found to be too young and slight in stature.
