Freegal Music

Freegal Music is a free music service from Alexandria Library. All you need is your library card number to access about 9 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists. In total the collection is comprised of music from over 28,000 labels with music that originates in over 80 countries.

Download 5 songs per week- they're free, and yours to keep!

Alexandria Library cardholders can download up to five songs per week from the Sony music collection and other licensed labels for your personal use.* Choose from thousands of artists, tens of thousands of albums, and millions of songs spanning over a hundred genres. Once you download the songs, they're yours to keep. Cardholders can also stream up to 3 hours of music per day.

Song tracks are downloaded directly from your browser as MP3 files and then saved to iTunes or other music players. There are Apple and Android apps available for free to download and stream music.

To get started, just click here and enter your Alexandria Library card number.

Use your Wishlist to create a running list of songs you want to download.

View your History to see any songs that you have streamed or viewed in the past.

Create Playlists to have a prepared queue of songs to stream.

*Note that other copyright laws apply. The participating music labels have authorized customers of libraries subscribing to Freegal to download copies of the music for personal use. However, sharing the music file with others (for instance, by giving them a CD, emailing the file or making it available online or via a file-sharing network) - would likely violate copyright law.
