ESL Classes at Alexandria Library

All classes are free and open to the public. No registration is required. Check the events calendar for specific dates.


The Beatley Central Library (5005 Duke Street) hosts the following ESL workshops:

  • "All Levels" for English Conversation every Tuesday and Thursday, from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the large Meeting Room.

The "All Levels" morning Engligh conversation classes are taught by volunteers with have several years of teaching experience and extensive travel backgrounds. The class is informal, with topics and questions introduced by the instructors.

  • “Intermediate Level” of learning English, every Tuesday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm in the Small Conference Room.

The "Intermediate Level" class is taught by a special education instructor and is a more structured class where grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation are covered.

The Burke Branch Library (4701 Seminary Road) hosts the Beginner level ESL workshops on Mondays and Fridays, 1-3 p.m. Check the events calendar for specific dates.

Free English classes for beginners in speaking, reading and writing English. Text materials will be provided in class. Children can accompany their parents.
