Alexandria Library Electronic Resources

Databases and subscription services are available to Alexandria Library card holding patrons. Patrons accessing the resources from library branches can select and perform informational searches from any number of provided databases and electronic resources. Offsite patrons accessing the library from a remote location such as a home or business computer or via a portable device will be redirected to the library's patron authentication website or asked to provide their library Patron ID barcode found on their library card. Most databases and subscription services are available 24/7. A few are accessible only from the library.

Subject Guides
The subject guides are a compilation of informative topics selected and researched by Alexandria Library's reference librarians. Each researched topic provides timely and informative resources to help patrons and community users locate materials available within the library's physical collections, electronic databases and from carefully reviewed Internet websites. Contact the library's Reference Librarians for help researching specific topics and subjects across the library's growing electronic and physical platforms, subscription services and digital resources.

eBooks are available through most of the library's databases and subscription services. A few services provide eBooks for download and transferral to computers and portable device readers. The library provides eBooks in .PDF and .EPUB formats. A few services provide additional formats compatible with proprietary devices such as and Apple portable reading devices. Audio Books
Downloadable audio books (also listed as "eAudiobooks") are available through several library resources. Most downloadable audio books are available in .WMA (Windows Media Audio) and .MP3 (MPEG Audio Layer) compressed file formats in several of our vendord databases. Zinio Digital Magazines 
Read full digital copies of your favorite magazines on a computer, tablet, or mobile device using the free Zinio Reader app.


Freegal Music 
Freegal Music is a free music service from Alexandria Library. All you need is your library card number to access about 7 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists. In total the collection is comprised of music from over 28,000 labels with music that originates in over 80 countries. 


Subscription Database Services
Newspapers, magazines, and journals are available in electronic forms. The majority of the library's subscription database services provide both abstract and full-text online eBook materials. A few support transfer onto portable devices. Please consult the "HELP" section of a database to locate information on download support.

eJournal A-Z Search
The eJournal A-Z database search performs a search across the larger database platforms. A search will locate journals, magazines and newspapers and provide the number of years and back issues available. The Alexandria Library has access to over 70,000 eJournal resources.

Mobile Library Services

Several of the library's subscription database services provide mobile applications for portable devices.
