Consoling Children in Tragic Times

When unimaginable acts happen, it is difficult for adults to process them and even harder to explain those events to children. How do we answer impossible questions? How much of the truth should we share? What is the best way to offer reassurance in the face of uncertainty? The Alexandria Library has compiled a list of resources available both in the library and on the Internet to help answer some of those tough questions.

On August 20, 2012 the Alexandria Library officially celebrated 75 years as a public library system. In recognition of the 75th Anniversary, Alexandria Library hosted a number of special programs throughout 2012.

 

 

 

   

Downton Abbey Marathon at Beatley Central Library

Whether you're a Downton Abbey fan or newbie to the series, our screenings will allow you to watch all episodes before season three airs on January 6.  Screenings will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 26, 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 27 and 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Dec. 28. Tea and biscuits will be served. 

 

  

 

Craft Night at Barrett Branch Library

Do you knit, crochet or sew? Join us on Thursday, December 12 at 7 p.m. to meet other crafters, share your love of yarn, thread and fabric, or even learn a new skill. Beginners welcome. Participants must bring their own supplies. 

 

  

 

Holiday Events at Alexandria Library

Free Meditation Class at Burke Branch
