Support the Alexandria Library Foundation on Cyber Monday & Giving Tuesday

Learn more about Buy it Now

As the holiday shopping season kicks off the day after Thanksgiving with "Black Friday," followed by its virtual counterpart, "Cyber Monday," you now have the option to spread the spirit of giving when you purchase through Alexandria Library's Buy It Now Amazon.com link. Having partnered with the online retailer, our “Buy It Now” link allows anyone to purchase any item—not just books—and a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to the Library.  Be sure to bookmark www.bit.ly/ALBuyitnow to help support us through your online purchases on Cyber Monday, December 2, as we continue to offer the community free books, eBooks, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs and more. Feel free to share the link with friends and relatives.

After two days of shopping, you can join the nation as people devote a day to give back. Be part of the #unselfie movement on #GivingTuesday, December 3, by donating to the Alexandria Library Foundation. Your support will help provide materials and help enhance Library services. After donating, you can take a photo, tag it #unselfie and upload it to your Instagram, Twitter or Facebook from now until December 4.

More About the Alexandria Library Foundation

Chartered in 1998, the Alexandria Library Foundation was formed to enhance the Alexandria Library's services through private donations. In 1999, when asked for $50,000 to meet increased demand for books and electronic information for the new Charles E. Beatley, Jr. Library, the City approved instead a $25,000 challenge grant. The donors to the Foundation met this challenge. We would like to thank everyone for their generous support!

In 2000, with the opening of the new library, we asked the City to add $50,000 to our operating budget in response to the increased demand for materials and services. The City offered a second challenge grant of $25,000, which required matching funds by the Foundation. The continued generosity of the community is needed for the Alexandria Library to provide the excellence in service and materials our residents deserve.
