Affordable Care Act
Starting October 1, 2013, Americans can enroll in health insurance coverage under the Affordable Health Care Act, which requires U.S. citizens and legal residents to have qualifying health coverage by January 1, 2014. Due to the role of libraries to provide e-government and emergency services to the public, Alexandria Library will be making resources available for patrons to ensure that they are informed about their new healthcare options. The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have partnered with U.S. libraries in this effort to provide patrons the information that they need using the Health Insurance Marketplace. Please visit http://www.hhs.gov/healthcare/ to find out more information about the Health Insurance Marketplace.
On Monday, October 28 at 6 p.m. join the Duncan Branch Library for a screening of a current healthcare documentary, followed by a Q&A with doctors from Steinmetz Medical Associates.
